There are several laws governing the disposal of hazardous waste such as the Basel Convention. Basel Convention aims to reduce the transboundary movement of hazardous waste to ensure that they are managed in an environmentally sound manner.
Control of Transboundary Movement of Hazardous Wastes
Transboundary movement of hazardous wastes from an area under the national jurisdiction of one state to or through an area under the national jurisdiction of another state or to or through an area not under the national jurisdiction of any state, provided at least two states are involved in the movement.
Basel management involves credentials for movement, collection, transport and disposal of hazardous wastes or other wastes, including after-care of disposal sites.
IESB takes care of the stringent and lengthy process of application and inclusive door-to-door arrangements under the Basel protocols & procedures.
